Jesús Torres-Garza

Attorney

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my law firm. I have been providing exceptional legal services in immigration and criminal defense for almost a decade. I am committed to providing quality legal services and individualized attention to help you achieve the result you need in your case.

I developed an interest in the legal profession from a very young age. My middle school nickname was "El Licenciado," meaning "the attorney." I can only assume that I exhibited attorney-like behavior from a young age to deserve such a nickname.

I am fully bilingual (English-Spanish). Being able to effectively communicate directly with my clients is very important. The law can sometimes be hard to digest, and I spend a lot of energy breaking down legal concepts so you can digest them and make the best decision possible. Once you hire me, I do not disappear and send you to someone else. You will remain in communication with me via phone, text, email, or client software, (or you can just knock on my window).

If I could describe my approach to the legal profession in three words, I would describe myself as thorough, creative, and diligent. When I was a child, my mother would tell me to "do it right, or don't do it at all." So, I take the time and energy to do things right because every client has a lot on the line. My support staff operates the same way to ensure everyone you encounter provides the same care, respect, and attention to detail.

In 2023, I opened my law firm as a solo practitioner after several years as a partner. I have a B.A. in sociology and a minor in political science from Mankato State University. I got my law degree at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. I am licensed in Minnesota and only practice criminal defense in Minnesota. However, since immigration law is federal, I can practice immigration law nationally. I have clients in Illinois, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and New York.

Kate Denney

Attorney

Kate Denney is a dedicated and compassionate attorney whose work is guided by a deep commitment to advocacy, fairness, and human dignity. With a strong background in criminal defense, immigration, and human rights, Kate brings both legal skill and genuine care to every client she represents.

Kate earned her legal education at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, where she was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient and recognized for excellence in trial advocacy. Throughout law school, she gained hands-on courtroom experience representing clients in misdemeanor and felony proceedings, juvenile defense matters, and federal cases through clinics and externships. She has worked closely with public defenders, legal aid organizations, and federal judges, giving her a well-rounded understanding of the justice system from multiple perspectives.

Before law school, Kate studied Spanish Studies and Global Studies: Human Rights at the University of Minnesota. She is fluent in Spanish, allowing her to communicate clearly and directly with Spanish-speaking clients and ensure they feel heard, understood, and supported throughout the legal process.

Kate’s professional experience also includes years of community-based work supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, refugees, and immigrants seeking safety and stability. This background shapes her client-centered approach: she understands that legal problems are deeply personal, often stressful, and can affect entire families.

Clients appreciate Kate for her clear communication, patience, and empathy, as well as her determination to advocate strongly on their behalf. She believes that everyone deserves respectful representation and takes pride in guiding clients through difficult situations with honesty, care, and confidence.
